Challenging research themes

The Brain Science Unit conducts research and education in a wide range of fields related to brain science.
The Brain Science Unit consists of four major fields.

  • (1)Development of the brain and mind
  • (2)Dementia and neurodegenerative diseases
  • (3)Advanced brain function regeneration
  • (4)Neuroinfectious diseases

In addition, specialized groups in these fields conduct research and provide education.

If you want to become a Principal Investigator (PI), come to the Brain Science Unit.

The U.S. Congress passed the "Decade of the Brain" resolution, and it is now said that "the 21st century is the age of the brain.
The Science Council of Japan has also indicated the importance of brain science with one of its three science policy recommendations: “Understanding the brain, protecting against disease, and developing international brain-related resources.”
The small size of our unit allows for close association between faculty and students, and we have an environment where students feel free to consult with us anytime, anywhere, and even on the most trivial matters.

No matter what field of study you come from! -field does not matter.

Since its establishment in 2019, members with diverse specialties in medicine, engineering, and pharmaceutical sciences have joined forces.
We are also actively engaged in collaborative research with scientists from other faculties and companies in Japan, and from overseas.
Although our research and teaching are not glamorous, our research is of interest to a wide range of academicians and companies interested in collaborating in Japan.
