Fibromyalgia Research Symposium 2016 in Nagasaki (FRS 2016)

Satellitesymposium of 16th World Congress on Pain

About FRS

Fibromyalgia, an intractable generalized pain syndrome, is known to comprise an approximately 2% population ratio in developed countries. Limited etiology information of fibromyalgia, a representative central pain, delays the reasonable diagnosis and therapy. Current therapy for fibromyalgia predominantly includes the use of existing analgesics and analgesic adjuvants, however, because of their insufficient therapeutic actions and adverse effects, it is still needed to develop and establish effective therapeutic strategies. To discuss the latest basic and clinical findings on fibromyalgia, here we organize an official satellite symposium of the 16th World Congress on Pain (16th WCP) ‘Fibromyalgia Research Symposium 2016 in Nagasaki’ with 14 distinguished IASP fibromyalgia researchers who also attend the 16th WCP. This satellite symposium would help the advances in establishment of diagnosis, therapeutic marker and novel therapeutic strategies as well as the development of basic studies on the mechanism of fibromyalgia in the world.
